The Interdisciplinary Studies Oversight Committee (IDSOC) ensures that a wide range of perspectives are aired before decisions about the Interdisciplinary Studies program are decided upon.
IDSOC was established in 2003 by the Faculty Senate under Senate Bill 3102. It is composed of faculty from many departments and has one student representative.

Currently, IDSOC has a broad range of functions. Tasks, as specified by Senate Bill 2805 of February 17, 2005, include:
Approval of new Interdisciplinary majors (IDSM)
Approval of changes made to IDSM coursework
Approval of new Interdisciplinary Studies courses
Approval of changes to Interdisciplinary Studies Minors
Designation of an Interdisciplinary Faculty
Currently, the IDSOC is undergoing a restructuring in order to reflect the recent University Reorganization. Senate Bill 2805 describes the role, members, and chair, of the committee.
